The Winnebago Council Boy Scouts of America received their local council charter for the furtherance and supervision of the Scouting program for boys and young men and women within the 17 counties they serve. This charter is good through June 30, 2015.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) National Council elected Dr. Robert M. Gates, former secretary of defense and former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), as the organization’s national president. Dr. Gates spoke to the Scouting family during the organization’s National Annual Meeting.
